Team chat

An internal, Slack-style messenger for your team (channels, DMs, threads, reactions, and pins), where you can also @mention an agent. It is not a customer channel.

Team Chat is a private, Slack-style messenger that lives inside your space: a place for your staff to talk, not a place customers reach you. It has channels, direct messages, threaded replies, reactions, pins, a files view, and search. What sets it apart: you can @mention one of your AI agents in a channel and it answers in-thread, right where your team is already working.

Team Chat is internal-only. Customers never see it and cannot post to it. The channels your customers actually message you through (WhatsApp, web chat, Instagram, and the rest) are covered under Channels, and they all land in the unified inbox.

Channels and direct messages

Conversation is organized into two kinds of rooms:

  • Channels: named, topic-based rooms. A channel is either public (anyone in the space can discover it and self-join) or private (invite-only: only the channel's creator can add members).
  • Direct messages: a private one-to-one conversation between two teammates. DMs can't be renamed or have members added or removed; they're just the two of you.

Everything is scoped to a single space. People in one space never see another space's rooms.

Messages, threads, and reactions

Posting works the way you'd expect from any modern team chat:

  • Threads: reply under any message to keep a side-discussion out of the main flow.
  • Edit and delete: fix a typo or remove a message you sent.
  • Reactions: react to a message with an emoji.
  • Pins: pin the important messages in a room so they're easy to find later.
  • Files: each room has a Files view that gathers every attachment shared in it.
  • Read state and typing: rooms track what you've read and show when someone is typing.

@mention an agent

Type @ in a channel, pick one of your agents, and it will reply in-thread as a message authored by that agent, so a teammate can pull an agent into the conversation to answer a question without leaving chat. You can mention more than one agent in a single message; each one answers on its own, and a brief "is replying…" indicator shows while it works.

Mentions are validated by their position in your message, not by matching the agent's name, so renaming an agent never breaks its mentions and no one can forge a mention the sender didn't actually place.

Search, pins, and your mentions inbox

  • Search looks across the rooms you're a member of.
  • Mentions inbox collects the messages where you were @mentioned, so nothing important slips past.
  • Per-room notifications: mute a noisy channel or dial its alerts up or down without leaving it. This is separate from your account-wide notification settings.

Governance and audit

Team Chat is not one of the space permissions in the role matrix. Instead, access is governed by the thing that actually maps to chat: channel visibility and membership. Public channels are open to the space; private channels and DMs are limited to their members, and only a private channel's creator can change who's in it.

Room and membership changes (creating a channel, opening a DM, adding or removing members) are recorded in the space audit log, like every other state-changing action in AnyBot.

FAQ

Can customers message my team through Team Chat? No. It is strictly internal. Customer conversations arrive through your connected channels.

Is it a matrix permission? No, Team Chat is controlled by channel visibility and room membership, not by the role permission matrix.

Which agent answers when I @mention one? Whichever agent you pick from the mention menu. Mention several and each replies independently.

Are Team Chat messages private to my space? Yes. Rooms are space-scoped; no one outside the space, and no customer, can see them.
