Wise

Connect Wise with a read-only API token so your agent can quote rates and read balances, recipients, and transactions. It never moves money.

Connect Wise with a single read-only API token and your agent gains seven finance tools: five owner-only tools that read your profiles, balances, recipients, and transaction history, plus two public-safe tools that quote a live exchange rate and estimate a transfer's cost. One rule defines the whole integration: Wise here reads and quotes. It never moves money.

Connect

  1. In Wise, create an API token (Settings → API tokens) for the environment you use: production or sandbox.
  2. Open Integrations in AnyBot and choose Wise.
  3. Paste the token, pick the matching Environment, and connect. AnyBot validates the token against your Wise profiles and captures your primary profile.
Wise connect dialog with API token field and Environment selector

The enabling gotcha: the Environment must match where the token was issued. A production token selected as sandbox (or the reverse) fails validation. AnyBot probes GET /v2/profiles at connect and rejects a bad or wrong-environment token on the spot. The token is static: there is no OAuth and no auto-refresh, so if you revoke or rotate it in Wise, reconnect here.

Optionally set a Default currency (a 3-letter code) on the integration. It pre-fills the currency filter when the agent looks up recipients.

What the agent can do

ToolAccessTypeWhat it does
wise_list_profilesOwner-onlyReadLists the personal and business profiles on the connected account with each profile's id and type.
wise_list_balancesOwner-onlyReadLists the multi-currency balances in a profile with each balance's id, currency, and available amount.
wise_get_balanceOwner-onlyReadReads one balance by id: currency, available and reserved amounts.
wise_list_recipientsOwner-onlyReadLists the saved recipient (payout) accounts on a profile, optionally filtered by currency.
wise_list_transactionsOwner-onlyReadLists recent account activity (transfers, card spend, conversions, fees) with status and paging.
wise_get_ratePublic-safeReadReturns the live Wise mid-market exchange rate between two currencies.
wise_create_quotePublic-safeReadEstimates a transfer's rate, fees, and amounts. An unauthenticated estimate. It never moves money.

Public-safe vs owner-only

The two rate tools are public-safe: a website visitor can ask "what's EUR to USD?" or "how much would sending 500 euros cost?" and the agent answers. The five account tools (profiles, balances, recipients, and transactions) are owner-only and marked sensitive, so their calls stay hidden from the chat stream and a visitor can never reach your Wise account through an agent. Put the account tools on an internal agent your team talks to, not on a customer-facing bot.

Worked example

A visitor on your pricing page asks, "I'm in the UK, what would £2,000 be in dollars after your fee?" The agent runs wise_get_rate for the live GBP→USD rate, then wise_create_quote to fold in Wise's fee, and replies with the real send/receive amounts. No payment is created and no login is touched. Your finance team, on an internal agent, can additionally ask "what's our EUR balance?" and get wise_list_balances back.

Limits & honesty

  • Read and quote only. Every tool is read-only. There is no write tool at all: nothing to move money, create a transfer, or change a recipient.
  • Static token. No OAuth, no auto-refresh. Rotate or revoke in Wise, then reconnect.
  • Transactions can need approval. For personal tokens, Wise may gate transaction history behind two-factor strong-customer-authentication; wise_list_transactions degrades gracefully rather than erroring.

Troubleshooting

  • Connection rejected at setup: the token is invalid, expired, or the Environment doesn't match. Reissue in Wise and reconnect, matching sandbox vs production.
  • No transactions returned: Wise required a 2FA (SCA) approval the API token can't satisfy. This is a Wise limit on personal tokens, not a bug.
  • A visitor can't see balances: by design. Account tools are owner-only; only rate and quote face visitors.

FAQ

Can the agent send money or pay someone? No. Wise is read-and-quote only. There is no transfer or payout tool.

Can a website visitor see my balances? No. Balances, recipients, transactions, and profiles are all owner-only.

Personal or business account? Either token works. When both profile types exist, the business profile is preferred as the default.
