Connecting social accounts
Connect your social networks one platform at a time, group them into Social Stacks, and keep them healthy with the reconnect and analytics re-consent flow.

Connecting your accounts is the prerequisite for the whole Social section, the planner, composer, analytics, and engagement queue all act on the accounts you link here. You can connect and publish to Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
Before you start
- You need the
manage_socialpermission in the space (Owners and Admins have it; see roles & permissions). - Have login access to the network account you want to link. You approve the connection on the network's own consent screen.
- Social accounts are not chat channels. Here you connect accounts AnyBot publishes to and engages on. A Channel is where your agent holds conversations (WhatsApp, webchat, and so on). Instagram appears in both places, the two connections are separate.
Connect an account
You connect one platform at a time:
- Open Social → Accounts and choose Connect, then pick a network.
- AnyBot hands you off to that network's OAuth consent screen. Approve every requested permission, declining one leaves the account partially connected.
- You're redirected back to AnyBot. The account appears with its handle, display name, and avatar, marked healthy.
Each account card shows the account's health, its followers and its activity over the last 30 days, and an account that needs reconnecting is clearly flagged. The account name links to its profile on the network, in a new tab.
Tokens are encrypted before they're stored, and connecting, disconnecting, and reconnecting each write an entry to your audit log.
Social Stacks
A Social Stack groups your social accounts so you publish to them together: you pick the Stack, and the post goes to the accounts in it.
- Every plan includes one Stack. Extra Stacks are a paid add-on, billed monthly or yearly.
- Move accounts between Stacks at any time.
- Coming from before Stacks? You reconnect your accounts into a Stack once. Your posts and their history are kept.
Health & reconnect
Every account carries a status, active, token-expired, error, or disconnected.
- AnyBot silently refreshes short-lived access tokens using the stored refresh token, so an active account keeps working without you touching it. Accounts on networks that renew this way read healthy.
- Expiring soon shows only when an account's access is about to run out and can't renew on its own. Click Refresh: where the network allows it, AnyBot renews the connection silently; otherwise it opens the network's sign-in so you approve it again.
- If a renewal fails while the account's access still works, the account keeps publishing, and it's only flagged for reconnect in the last 24 hours before that access runs out.
- If a token lapses it shows as token-expired, and if it can't be refreshed or the network revokes access the account flips to error, both show a Reconnect prompt. Running the connect flow again restores it, and reuses the same account record, so scheduled posts already queued against it are never orphaned.
(Note: analytics and engagement can separately ask you to re-consent for extra read scopes. That's a per-feature signal, not an account status. See the analytics re-consent note below.)
The analytics re-consent caveat
Analytics and comment ingestion need extra read/insights permissions beyond what publishing requires, for example Instagram insights, or YouTube engagement scopes. If those weren't granted when you first connected, the account (or that feature) shows needs re-consent.
Troubleshooting
- "Invalid or expired OAuth state", the connect link timed out. Start the connect flow again and finish it promptly.
- Returned with an error, a requested permission was declined or the network rejected the request. Retry and approve everything.
- Account errored right after connecting, usually a missing permission; reconnect and grant the full set.
- Analytics empty or "needs re-consent", grant the insights permissions via Reconnect (see above).
- One account never publishes, check it isn't queue-paused in the planner and isn't errored.
FAQ
Do I need to reconnect regularly? No, tokens refresh automatically. Only reconnect when an account shows errored or needs re-consent.
Does disconnecting delete my posts? It removes the stored tokens and hides the account. Reconnecting the same network account revives the record.
Who can connect accounts? Anyone with manage_social in that space.
How many Stacks do I get? One comes with every plan. Each extra Stack is a paid add-on, billed monthly or yearly.
