Sell products in chat

Sync a WooCommerce catalogue or crawl your site so your agent recommends real products, quotes as-of-sync prices, and hands the shopper to your real checkout.

Turn your agent into a product concierge. Connect a store, sync your catalogue, and the agent can search real products, quote as-of-sync prices, confirm stock, and point the shopper straight to your checkout, capturing their contact along the way. What it does not do is take payment: AnyBot commerce is sync, not transactional, so the agent discovers and hands off, it never places the order.

What you'll build

A customer-facing agent that answers "do you have…?" and "how much is…?" from your synced catalogue, recommends the right item with a real link, and, when the shopper is ready, sends them to your live checkout and captures the lead. All in one conversation, on any channel.

Before you start

  • An agent you can edit, see Your first agent in 10 minutes.
  • A WooCommerce store URL plus a read-only API key pair, or just a public website to crawl, if you have no store platform. (Shopify support is coming soon; use WooCommerce or a website crawl today.)
  • The Web Chat channel enabled on the agent, so you can talk to it in the test chat.

This page owns the click-by-click. For the tools, limits, and the sync-vs-live gotcha in depth, see Commerce (Shopify & WooCommerce).

Steps

1. Connect your store and sync the catalogue

Open Integrations, choose Commerce, and pick your source: WooCommerce (store URL + read API key), or crawl your website. Run the sync.

Expected result: The sync completes and shows a product count. Products now live in AnyBot's catalogue as a synced copy, full walkthrough in Commerce.

2. Give the agent the products ability

Open the agent's Skills tab and attach the Commerce / products family, plus capture lead so it can save an interested shopper's contact. Both are public-safe, a website visitor may trigger them safely.

Expected result: The agent lists product search, product details, and catalogue browsing among its tools, alongside lead capture.

3. Open the test chat

Open the live Chat with Agent panel (a side panel on wide screens, a Chat button on smaller ones). It needs the Web Chat channel enabled, see Testing your agent.

Expected result: The panel opens and greets you, ready for a message.

4. Ask a real product question

Type something a shopper would ask, for example: "Do you have a waterproof jacket under 100, in blue?" Watch the agent call product search, then product details, as visible tool steps.

Expected result: A grounded reply naming a real product, its as-of-sync price, whether the blue variant is in stock, and a link, no invented items.

5. Hand off to checkout and capture the lead

Ask to buy: "I'll take it, how do I check out?" The agent shares the product or store link to your checkout and offers to save your contact for follow-up. It will not ask for a card or claim to place the order.

Expected result: You get a checkout link and, if you share your details, a captured lead, with no in-chat payment step.

Verify it works

  • The Commerce sync shows a product count greater than zero.
  • The agent's Skills tab lists the products family and capture lead.
  • A product question returned a real, in-stock item with a price and link.
  • Asking to "check out" produced a link to your own store, not an in-chat payment.
  • A shared contact shows up as a captured lead.

Troubleshooting

  • Agent says it has no products, the products ability isn't attached (Step 2), or the sync hasn't run. Re-check the connection and re-sync.
  • Wrong price or a stale "out of stock", the agent reads the synced copy, not your live store. Re-sync after any catalogue change; treat the sync cadence as the source of truth for what it says.
  • Missing products, draft and archived items are skipped; only active products sync into search.
  • Agent tries to "place the order". It can't, and shouldn't imply it can. Commerce is read and sync only; reinforce in the agent's behavior & guardrails that it hands off to checkout.
