Slack tools for your AI agent

Let your agent read Slack for you, channels, history, threads, users and search, as read-only tools. It never posts as a tool.

The Slack integration gives your agent read-only tools to look things up in Slack, list channels, read channel history and thread replies, list users, and search messages. All seven tools are owner-only, and none of them post. This is distinct from the Slack channel, where the agent talks in Slack by answering DMs and @mentions.

Abilities

What your agent can do

01

Read & search Slack

List public and private channels, read history and thread replies, list users and look up a user, and search messages across the workspace.

02

Safe by design

All seven Slack tools are owner-only and read-only, the agent never posts as a tool, and a public visitor can never trigger them.

Setup

Connect your Slack app

Once connected, the ability is available to your agents right away, under the guardrails you set.

Frequently asked

Does the agent post in Slack with these tools?

No, the Slack tools are read-only. To have the agent talk in Slack (reply to DMs and @mentions), use the Slack channel.

Is this the same as the Slack channel?

They share one connection but do different jobs: the channel lets the agent talk in Slack; these tools let it read Slack for you.
